Product Description
City Theatrical‘s DMXcat™ Test Tool system is designed for use by the lighting professional who is involved with the planning, installation, operation, or maintenance of theatrical and studio lighting equipment. The system consists of a small hardware interface device and a suite of mobile applications. Together, they combine to bring DMX/RDM control plus several other functionalities to the user’s smartphone for use wherever and whenever they are needed. Developed with input from designers and technicians, the DMXcat will be an indispensable tool for lighting users.
Hardware
The DMXcat’s interface device is a compact battery powered unit which fits easily in a pocket or tool pouch or may be worn on a belt. It uses Bluetooth LE technology for communication with the smartphone/applications (up to 50’ range). Without the limitations of being physically connected, the user can move about the workspace as needed with his/her smartphone and run the various apps while still using the phone for on-the-job communication. The device’s 5 pin XLRF connector/cable asembly allows it to be connected to a point in a DMX data chain to allow testing and or control of the various DMX/RDM channel functions. It is charged using a standard USB to Micro-USB cable and charger.
Other features include a built-in LED flashlight, an audible alarm (for locating a misplaced unit), an LED Status indicator, and a removable belt clip. Optional accessories include: XLR5M to RJ45 Adapter, XLR5M to XLR3F Adapter, XLR5M to XLR5M Turnaround, XLR5M to XLR3M Turnaround, Belt Pouch.
Software Applications
There are currently seven apps available or in development for use with the DMXcat system. Apps are available through Google Play (Android) or the Appstore (IPhone).

So useful and timesaving

I bought this a week ago and have used it every day since and can't remember what I did without it. Makes jobs that before would have meant ages going round on a ladder addressing things an fixing issues can be done from the ground with most lights.

A must have for any lighting technician

The great thing about the DMXcat is it's ease of use. It's compact and can easily be carried around. It's the perfect tool for testing lights, problem solving DMX and of course it's also a fully functional RDM tool. It really is an excellent product.

Great test and setup tool for a lighting tech.

Easy to set up and use.
Great for setting Dmx address and personality of RDM lighting.
Good for fault finding a problem on a light.
Testing output of a desk is good and helps to see if any timing issues could be a fault on your rig.
Extras like dip switch calc and light meter/ wi-fi scanner on android are useful to help when setting up lights & wireless dmx.

Returns Policy
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly.
