Product Description

Lighting Design software

Save time with a lighting design, documentation and visualisation software that is both easy to learn and rewarding to use! Capture is a native macOS and Windows application that lets you work with lighting, video, laser, moving scenery and water effects. Where Capture truly excels is with its ease of use and seamless switching between design, documentation and visualization. This provides an unprecedented level of flexibility and ability to support different types of design processes. It encourages you to try out new workflows and find faster ways of working.

Designing with Capture

Whether you're looking to create a simple 2D sketch or a full-blown 3D plot, Capture has you covered. Try as many fixtures as you need, at different hanging positions and with different gels or gobos. Adapt easily to any set design changes or sudden new restrictions. Do even more with Capture's impressive 3D model import capabilities and excellent integration with other lighting control and design products.

New to Capture 2024

Connectivity status window: all protocols discovered on the network can be reported which makes configuring and troubleshooting easier.

Import and Scale A Broad range of Image formats: it is now possible to import and also scale a wide range of image formats, scaling them in relation to another objects distance. (Note not available for PDF)

Plot improvements: Plots have now been enriched with the ability to add a report, and also a brand-new grid plot inset for easier measurement reference.

Increased Visualisation quality: with improved beam sampling and other fixture enhancements.

Breathe more life into your projects: Import animated objects as glTF to enhance your presentations.

  • Scale mode.
  • Animated objects.
  • This is a visualisation of the difference between SDR and HDR.

Supports images visible in wireframe and plot mode: From Built-in/Dimensions section of library, or model import from DWG or PDF files.

Importing from SketchUp: preserves groups, imports components as groups, sets drawing block names, handles layer materials better. Alpha channel textures now supported along with hidden, shadow casting and opacity usage properties (on both object and individual face level).

Optimisation for improved DWG performance: shell face edge visibility handling. Improved legibility and performance of objects, multiple objects now import as a group.

Drawing name and drawing block name: can now be imported and are available on groups.

Several Visualisation aspect ratios added as well as option for transparent or black masking.

Automatic filter inclusion can now be disabled: controls whether new layers and universes are automatically included to the filter set.

Fixture orientation reference: fixture orientation indication now shown at the centre of selected wireframe fixtures view.

Highlight Scale mode: New Scale mode allows you to select imported objects, measure a distance and have the entire selection rescaled to match another distance. Replace with motion fixture: Imported objects can now be replaced with motion fixtures.

Reports in plots: Plot item makes it possible to add a report from the project in a plot.

Scene selection in plot views: Plot view insets scene property make it possible to explicitly select a scene for the plot view. When not set the view shows the current scene.

Current date plot text variable. Two plot text variables for inserting the current date.

Plot adjustments. Enable and disable plot adjustments through the edit menu as well as assigning a keyboard shortcut

Annotation selection. Select Only Annotations has been split into three different commands to differentiate between front, centre and tail annotations.

Highlight Reference grid plot inset.

Vertical ruler text orientation. Text orientation of vertical rulers is not orthogonal to the ruler.

Patch universe and channel report columns. Two patch columns make it possible to group reports by universes, containing a channel column that doesn’t repeat the universe name.

Circuit property for panels and report items. Both panels and report items have circuit properties that are visible in plots and reports.

Reports unit column. The unit column added to the Rigging Point, Cable and Other report tables.

Improved beam sampling: greatly reduce slicing and pattern misalignment artefacts.

Multicolour LED fixture simulation. The performance and visual stability of colours (hues and intensities) from multicolour LED fixtures have been improved.

Multiaperture barndoor visualisation. The effect of barndoors on beams is visualised for multiaperture fixtures as well.

Gobo visualisation. Gobos scaled to match the field angle of fixtures.

Prism visualisation. Prisms take into account the size of the field angle in the final size of the beam. Focus and frost is applied to the individual facets, before the prism effect is applied.

Zoom response curves. The library now supports zoom response curves.

Star cloth texture generators. Generates luminance textures for star cloth materials.

Emissive objects precision. Rendering of emissive objects has been reworked to improve precision and avoid glitches.

Animated objects. Support for importing animated skinned glTF assets.

Movie rendering settings. Options that allow rendering movies with different levels of quality and with different levels of protection. Visualisation and control of multiple frost in fixtures like the Elation Artiste Monet.

Duplicate, import & export material mapping regions. Material mapping regions can be duplicated as well as imported and exported in CSV files.

Separate HDRI lighting intensity. The lighting intensity of an HDRI has a separate property. An HDRI’s “master” intensity is controlled by the existing property.

Presentation connectivity options. Exported presentation files include the current connectivity options, ie. sACN settings or number of PangolinLD projectors.

Media player DMX control. Select 256 instead of 8 playlist entries in a media player over DMX.

Windows HDR support. Continuous automatic detection of HDR on Windows, both when enabling/disabling HDR on monitors and when moving windows between monitors.
